PRIVATE AND GROUP LESSONS
Children can start instrument lessons at Music Monkeys from the age of 4½. We offer private and group lessons in piano, violin, viola, recorder, flute, oboe and singing.
Where appropriate, we also include elements of broader musical development — including movement — helping children experience and understand music as a whole.
WHERE and when TO BEGIN?
Children can start piano or violin lessons from the age of 4½, and wind instrument lessons from the age of 6. However, not every child is ready to begin learning an instrument at that age. Many young children benefit from first developing a broad musical foundation in a group, together with peers. The musical skills they gain can later be applied to any instrument. Our Music Play groups are for children aged 4 to 7.
OUR INSTRUMENTAL TEACHERS
Our team consists of specialist instrumental teachers. They hold bachelor’s degrees as well as one or more master’s degrees in both their instrument and in music education. On our team page, you can meet the teachers, discover which instruments they teach and learn more about their musical backgrounds.
SHORT INTRODUCTORY COURSE
For five weeks, a different instrument takes centre stage each week. One teacher guides the group throughout the course, joined each week by a specialist teacher for that particular instrument. This gives children aged 6 to 10 the opportunity to hear, hold and try a range of instruments before choosing one.
